Sicily
The Mediterranean’s largest island is naturally influenced by the famous climate of hot dry summers and cool wet winters.
With a wine heritage spanning centuries, Sicily was once famed for its Muscats and fortifieds, but recent decades have seen a successful shift to dry wines. While local varieties, Nero d’Avola and Catarrato are the most commonly planted grapes, the best wines of the region are often exceptional offerings of the Nerello varieties displaying savoury, earthy flavours with a style that hints at an aromatic Burgundy.
