Piedmont

In the north west corner of Italy, hugging borders with Switzerland and France, this Italian wine area is both coastal and mountainous.

It combines cool alpine climates with sunny slopes, thick fogs and warm sea breezes, resulting in the ideal conditions for elegant reds – most notably Nebbiolo, Dulcetto and Barbera. While not so well-recognised for white wines, it is home to the sweet, effervescent and immensely popular Moscato d’Asti.
