Umbria

Umbria

Often described as ‘Tuscany without the price-tag’, Umbria’s green rolling hills, historic villages and ancient vineyards famoulsy produce a fine array of whites from local Trebbiano Spoletino and Trebbaino Toscano (confusingly also known as Ugni Blanc and Procanico).

However, it is its red wines made from the local Sagrantino grape that frequently rates amongst its finest offerings, delivering red berry and spice flavours, with a touch of smokiness or earthiness, creating one of Italy’s most enigmatic and intriguingly appealing wines.
