Central Otago

The most southern wine region in the world, protected by nearby mountains, Central Otago’s focus is on cool climate wines, significantly Pinot Noir, for which is world-renowned.

Often described as a region of sub-regions, the wines of Otago are highly representative of their terroir. Pinot Noirs tend to be richly fruit-driven with a unique intensity while retaining a delicate touch. Other varieties include beautifully rounded Riesling, Gewürztraminer and Pinot Gris, elegant Chardonnays of captivating complexity, and Sauvignon Blanc, which, in the hands of Otago winemakers, convey flint and tropical tones.
