Pelissero Piani Berbera d'Alba DOC 2021

The colour is bright, intense ruby red, with a vivacity that makes it especially tempting. On the nose, the sensations are very delicate, opening with notes of blackberry and plum, and finishing with a typically vinous character. Overall, the aromatic profile delivers a pleasant and teasing impression. On the palate, saltiness and acidity come to the forefront, clearly expressing the wine's polyphenolic strength. The amplitude of the Barbera is particularly noteworthy, complemented by a persistent aftertaste.

This wine is produced with the goal of enhancing its inherent characteristics—vinosity, complexity and persistency. Maceration takes place over 15 to 20 days in stainless steel casks at controlled temperatures. Ageing follows for approximately 8 to 9 months, with 30 to 40% of the wine maturing in barriques and the remainder in 50 hL oak barrels. After ageing, the wine is blended and bottled, then rests for a couple of months before release. Low yields, extended maceration, and the balanced influence of oak barrels contribute to the wine’s remarkable longevity, complexity and significance, reminiscent of a noble Nebbiolo.
